Christmas Celebrations

During the weekends before Christmas, we were able to celebrate with both of our extended families. It was great to see everyone! We gathered at Aunt Laura and Uncle Al's home in Weaverville to celebrate with Scott's family and then at Thomas and Ryan's home in Charlotte with my family.

We enjoyed giving and opening presents, making cookies, and sharing a delicious meal together at Aunt Laura's house. The kids were so excited to see Mae, as well as everyone else. Unfortunately, present time started right about the time we usually eat dinner and the kids, specifically Jacob, had a hard time maintaining a pleasant attitude, but we pushed through, and definitely had a big talk about showing gratitude when given a gift. As much fun as the huge group is, its not always the easiest for Jacob.

Grandma and Grandaddy surprised the kids with a slide and tool belts, because their big Christmas present to our family is a playset!!! Grandaddy is building it himself and we are so excited!!!

We headed to Charlotte the Friday before Christmas to celebrate with my family, and the kids were so excited to see Wade. The three amigos were so cute together and had a great time playing. They had little games and role plays going at all times! Wade copied every single thing Jacob did, which is kind of scary! Haha! We had wonderful meals and Christmas treats, took in some Christmas light sight-seeing around the neighborhood, and shared lots of laughs.

Giving and opening presents went much better this go-round! Probably because we just focused on the kids in the afternoon and the adults exchanged gifts after the littles went to bed that night. We didn't plan it that way, but its how it played out and it really worked well.

Papa arrived Saturday morning and we snapped a quick picture of everyone before Meme headed out. Our family has certainly grown in the last few years!

We're so grateful for the special times with our families this holiday season!
