Cookies & Cocoa with Santa and December SNOW

Cookies & Cocoa with Santa

Jacob and Lydia were so excited to share their Christmas Lists with Santa at Fletcher Elementary's Cookies and Cocoa with Santa Night! Lydia's one request was a watch, while Jacob asked for light up shoes, a computer, and a parrot. We'll see how all that works out for him!

We also enjoyed some hot chocolate, chorus performances, and the school art show. Jacob loved showing us his "Oval Man" project! It was a fun night out, which was great, because we ended up being snowed in for the next week.

December SNOW

We LOVE snow in the Baden house and were so excited to hear weather reports of a big snow storm heading our way. Lydia and I braved Wal-Mart and the grocery store in the days leading up to the storm.

The kids also made a store in our house in case we forgot any essentials!

Its always so exciting when the first flakes finally start to fall. We were so grateful the storm started on a Saturday so that Daddy could be home with us for all the fun.

Daddy and Jacob decided it was a good time to put up Christmas lights...in shorts.

After the lights were up, we got cooking. Snow always puts us in a baking mood!

Even though our snow started during the afternoon, it didn't start to accumulate until evening. The kids were so excited that we had to go outside for a quick play before bedtime. We had so much fun making snow balls and rolling down the sledding hill!

Daddy didn't have appropriate footwear for the storm, so this was his solution. His feet stayed dry, but he found that plastic bags don't quite provide the traction that boots do! Daddy ended up taking a little involuntary roll down the hill!

We woke up to a winter wonderland on Sunday morning! We officially measured 7 inches of snow, but we had a couple of hours of sleet in the early morning hours, so there were probably closer to 10 inches before that. We headed out immediately after breakfast!

When Lydia's done, she's done! Jacob would have stayed out all day if allowed!

While Lydia took her nap, I took a solo snow walk. It was such a beautiful, peaceful time to myself.

The kids headed back out in the afternoon for round 2! The snow was the perfect consistency for building a snowman and a snow princess!

We fit in lots of snuggles, cuddles, hot chocolate, and snow cream while we were snowed in! Daddy even had a day off of work on Monday.

School ended up being cancelled for the week. Main roads were cleared early in the week, but cold temperatures and huge amounts of snow on back roads made travel difficult. The kids used the time at home to destroy the house and I used the time to make a my first ever fresh swag wreath! A great time was had by all!
