Everyone was excited to be reunited with Daddy on Monday morning, and the next week went much smoother (just in time to leave for our trip to Tybee Island with my family)! Jacob's class had a field trip to Sky Top Orchard that week, and Lydia & I got to join in the fun!
The orchard owner did a little presentation about apple-growing, and then we got to take a "hay"ride into the orchards to pick our own apples. Lydia was a little unsure about the hayride, but Jacob absolutely loved it!
They both loved picking apples! Jacob even let me take a few pictures of him with his best school buddies, Jack and Matthew.

Unfortunately, Lydia got some kind of mystery eye infection a couple of days before we left for Tybee. I ended up having to take her to the pediatrician two times, one being the morning we were trying to leave. We're thankful her antibiotic has cleared it up!
After getting the all-clear from Lydia's doctor, we headed out of town and spent last weekend of September with my family at Tybee Island. We had a great time despite the not so great beach weather.
Sunday would have been a perfect beach day, if not for the 25 mph sustained winds. Instead of going down to the beach in the morning, we decided to check out the Tybee Science Center and the pier. The Science Center was small and most animals had been released prior to Hurricane Irma, but we did get to see some turtles, fish, and an octopus!
During nap/quiet time, Papa stayed with the kids while Scott and I took a windy beach walk. Despite the cold, gusty winds, it was a gorgeous afternoon.
Later that afternoon, the winds calmed slightly and we were able to enjoy some pool time with the kids. Lydia is finally to the point of not completely hating pools! She still prefers to stay on the edge or top step, but its a definite improvement of not even wanting to put her feet in at the beginning of the summer.
We finished out our weekend with dinner on the water, followed by a walk to get some ice cream!
We stopped in Savannah on our way out Monday morning just as a huge barge was coming in! We'd been seeing them out in the ocean over the weekend, so it was fun to see one up close. It was a little rainy, but we still enjoyed walking on the riverfront, taking a ferry ride, eating lunch, and of course stopping by the candy shop!
We had a great summer, full of fun adventures and are looking forward to lots of Fall fun here at home!
