Baden Family Beach Trip - North Myrtle

We spent a wonderful week with the Baden Family at North Myrtle Beach.

Due to Hurricane Irma's constantly changing track and Scott's nasty case of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, we weren't sure in the days leading up to the trip that it was actually going to happen. Originally, we were set to go to Hilton Head, but with the mandatory evacuation and no idea of when it would be lifted, we decided to change locations. Uncle Craig was able to find a great condo in North Myrtle at a great last minute/hurricane rate!!! While the rest of the family headed down Sunday, we waited until Tuesday due to Scott's HFMD. He ended up having a much more extreme case than either of the kids.

Jacob and Lydia were finally able to meet their new cousin, Mae! Seeing the little cousins together was really the sweetest thing. It was so cute to see how much they love her already. Anytime she was around, they wanted to be near her and had so much fun looking at her, as well as reading, talking, and singing to her. She seemed to be really interested in watching them, too!

After the storm blew through Sunday and Monday, we had pretty perfect weather throughout the rest of the week. We definitely took advantage of it with lots of beach and pool time! Lydia surprised us by deciding she liked the beach, water and sand included! Just six weeks ago on our Edisto trip with my family, she hated it and cried the entire time we were on the beach. Its crazy how quickly things can change with little kids!

Uncle Michael was so sweet to make sand castles for Jacob, complete with roads and bridges!

Jacob continues to love the ocean! He had so much fun jumping waves and going out in the "deep end" with Daddy.

Thanks to Grandma and Grandaddy, Scott and I were able to slip away one afternoon for a lunch date! It was great to share a delicious meal and have conversation without being constantly interrupted by our kids.

I think my favorite part of each day was heading back to the beach in the early evenings. We'd feed the kids an early dinner and then enjoy more time outside before putting them to bed. By this time the beach had cleared, the air had cooled, and the light was gorgeous. We didn't have to mess with sunscreen or hats, and Jacob loved getting to be like Daddy by just wearing his trunks.

And while we got some great shots of everyone else with our kids, the quest for a decent picture of our little family continues...sigh.

Jacob was so excited to go on a night beach walk with his flashlight. He's been waiting for this little adventure since our Edisto trip. To make things even more exciting, Grandaddy had an extra head lamp!

On our last night we ate pizza on the beach to finish out a wonderful week. We're so grateful for the time we had and eagerly look forward to the next time we'll all be together!
