Lydia was excited about Jacob going back to school, too!
I snapped this picture in the parking lot right before heading inside to his classroom. It was a very different scene from his first day last year, which was full of tears. This year he gave me a hug and didn't look back!
Last year we started a yummy tradition of getting ice cream after the first day of school, but I forgot our little ice cream shop is closed on Mondays. We decided to get cookies from the Fletcher Bakery instead. No complaints here!
A few pictures from Jacob's Open House morning the Friday before his first day...
The excitement of back-to-school deescalated quickly when Jacob came down with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease on Day 2. He had spent the previous weekend at Meme's house with Wade, who we found out had HFMD after the fact. He was so sad to miss the rest of his first week.
Daddy and Lydia went on a walk to give Jacob (and Mommy) a little bit of quiet time and came home with some beautiful wild flowers.
With the Labor Day holiday, two closings due to Hurricane Irma, and our Baden Family beach trip, its just now in late September that we're really getting into the daily routine of going to school. But Jacob is loving it and each morning looks forward to going to be with his teachers and friends!
