Lake Weekend

Last month we packed up and headed east to Grandma and Grandaddy's house for the weekend! We were looking forward to spending time with them, as well as with the Houstons. Megan and I try to find a weekend each summer to get our families together, and it works out perfectly that Grandma and Grandaddy live halfway between us!

We kicked the weekend off with a little surprise (belated) birthday party for Grandma, complete with a cake, flowers, and a few little handmade presents from the kids. Jacob said it was the best birthday party ever! We think Grandma liked it, too.

Jacob loves to be a big helper in the kitchen. He worked so hard on Grandma's cake!

The Houston Family came over Saturday morning, and we enjoyed a pretty perfect lake day with them. We had so much fun catching up while eating lunch outside, going on a boat ride with the big boys, and swimming in the lake together. Lydia and Maddox napped most of the afternoon, so Megan and I actually got to have real conversations! It works out really well that our kids are the same ages and going through the same stages. We had the best time and can't wait until the next one!

The next morning we met Papa in Morganton for breakfast at Cracker Barrel before he headed back to Alabama and before we headed to church with Grandma and Grandaddy. The kids were so excited to see him!

While Lydia and I took naps after church, Jacob, Daddy, and Grandaddy spent the afternoon swimming and "fishing" in the lake. Jacob told Grandaddy that it was the perfect day, and we couldn't agree more!
