We'd been looking forward to spending Labor Day weekend with the Bradley Family in Weaverville, but had to change our plans after Jacob and Lydia got HFMD. Even though both kids were fever and symptom-free by Saturday afternoon, the incubation period is 3-7 days, which meant Scott and I were not in the clear. Our main consideration was for Baby Mae and her parents. I think some might have thought we were being overly cautious by staying away the entire weekend, but we made the right decision. Scott ended up sick the following Wednesday and had a much, much more extreme case than either of the kids.
Even though we were sad to be stuck at home, we still managed to have a fun weekend together! While I do enjoy big group get-togethers, I also really enjoy spending quality time making memories with our little family. We had our own cook-out and bonfire, complete with s'mores. Papa was in North Carolina for the weekend and stopped by to spend some time with us.
We even ventured out to the Apple Festival on Monday morning with Meme! Apple cider slushies and apple doughnuts were a great treat after being stuck at home for a week!
Poor Daddy wasn't feeling well by Wednesday...
Luckily we have an in-house doctor!
Hopefully our rough start to September isn't a preview of how we'll fare during the approaching cold and flu season!
