This was one time we were really glad the weather report was wrong! We ended up with about 10 inches of snow and loved every minute of it!
This is the first picture I took of our backyard when I woke up Friday morning. The kids were so excited and stayed glued to the windows watching the flakes fall.
Immediately following breakfast we suited up and headed out! At this point I was thinking we'd better go ahead and enjoy it since we weren't supposed to get very much.
Lydia was not a fan of the snow last winter, but a lot has changed in a year. She was very curious about the fluffy white stuff and ended up having a blast!
Jacob loved it of course, and probably would have stayed out the entire day if I had let him!
We had so much fun sledding (especially Lydia!), making a snowman, and throwing snowballs. These two couldn't get enough! It was so much fun and such a difference from last year when Lydia was done before we even got outside, and the year before when she was a newborn and really couldn't be out for long, and the year before that when Jacob didn't really like it yet. We've finally arrived!
I took these pictures mid-day. It was pretty clear at this point that we were going to have more than the couple of inches predicted! Daddy even got to come home early from work.
After dinner we headed back out for more sledding and a walk to look at the Christmas lights in our neighborhood. I don't think it quit snowing all day long!
Don't mind our serial killer snowman...I guess using carrots for all facial features was a better idea in my head than in reality.
We warmed up with some homemade hot chocolate after coming in for the night.
When we woke up Saturday morning, it was still snowing!!!
We headed out again after breakfast for another fun day of sledding and playing in the snow! We couldn't believe how deep it was. Lydia had trouble walking through it!
We closed out our second snow day with more nighttime sledding and a little snow cream before bed!
The unexpected snow day turned into the pretty much perfect snow weekend!!! We can't wait for more!
