October is one of my favorite months! The weather starts to cool off, we've settled into a rhythm with school, and there are so many fun fall activities!
Ms. Toni gave us tickets to Hickory Nut Gap Farm and we had the best day there! We saw farm animals, took a hayride, had a picnic, found our way through a corn maze, and rode ponies!
Our beautiful Maple Tree!
We had a cowboy and a mermaid for Halloween this year!
We met up with the Ogren Family at the church's Fall Festival.
We picked the perfect pumpkin to carve this year! Lydia continues to prefer to keep her distance from the pumpkin goo!
We made our also made our annual trip to Sky Top Orchard! It was a chilly morning, but we still enjoyed fresh pumpkin donuts, playing on the playground, and picking apples! We went towards the end of the season, so we had to walk to the back of the orchard to find apples, but we got two full baskets of granny smiths (or granny sniffs, as Lydia says) and pink ladies!
The kids chose little pumpkins from the church pumpkin patch.
Every year for Halloween, Jacob's school has Career Day. The students can dress up as a career of their choice. There's a student parade and a fair in the gym filled with parents and community members who present their careers to the students. Jacob chose to be an architect!
Lydia and I helped at Jacob's class Halloween Party. I did face painting...I might need to keep my day job!
After waiting and waiting and waiting - it was finally time to trick-or-treat!!! We weren't sure if the weather was going to cooperate. The forecast was calling for severe storms, but it worked out! Even though it was really cold and windy, the rain held off and we got in a full evening of trick or treating!
A few other pictures from our October...
I pickled the last of the jalapenos from our garden! Delicious!
