Jacob declared the weekend before Halloween as "Family Fun Weekend," and it definitely lived up to its name. Daddy and Jacob had Friday off of work and school, so we had a full three days together. We made spider sandwiches, carved our pumpkin, went to the Fletcher Halloween Carnival, and made our annual trip to Sky Top Orchard.
Lydia kept a safe distance from the pumpkin goo!
Saturday, the day of the Fletcher Halloween Carnival, was miserably cold, windy, and wet from rain the day before. Even though we ended up not staying as long as planned, we still managed to play lots of games, bounce on inflatables, and take a (very cold) hayride. We saw one of Jacob's best friends, Avalee, which was the highlight of the carnival for him!
We warmed up at home with hot cider while we made Frankenstein rice crispy treats.
Thankfully the weather was much better on Sunday for our trip to Sky Top Orchard. It was cold early on, but warmed up nicely while we were there. We were so excited to see our Maple Tree finally turning its beautiful, bright red.
Sky Top's warm pumpkin doughnuts never disappoint!
We decided to actually go into the orchard to pick apples this year. Even though it was late in the season we still found lots of delicious Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples. We can't wait to make some yummy apple treats!
And of course we had to visit the animals before leaving. It was a great day together!
As our leaves started to fall, we tried to keep up with raking. We had some helpers this year!
And a few other pictures from the week...Halloween candy and pony tails!
