100th Day of School and February Fun

Jacob celebrated his 100th Day of School on February 15th, and in honor of the day he dressed like a 100 year old man!

Speaking of school, Jacob continues to do great in kindergarten! He had excellent marks on his 2nd quarter report card, and was so proud to share his binder during his student-led conference. His teacher says he is growing in reading and math every single day. We see it at home, too. He loves to read! Some nights he uses his flashlight to "sneak" a few more books before bed! Its hard to believe he's already halfway done with kindergarten. I remember registering him around this time last year. That seems like a lifetime ago.

Lydia's big news this month is that she's pretty much dropped her afternoon nap. I would have preferred she nap until she was four like Jacob did, but it just didn't work out that way. She was still taking a good nap every afternoon, but she started having trouble falling asleep at night. Most nights she was awake until at least 9:30 or 10:00. I got tired of spending my evenings putting her back to bed over and over, so as sad as it was, I decided to cut out her nap. While its solved the bedtime problem, its created others. To begin with, she has to go to bed by 6:30, so evening activities are a definite no for us right now. She's also become incredibly grouchy and disobedient. It makes for some LONG afternoons around here! So for now we're just pushing through this time until she adjusts to the new schedule. She often falls asleep in the car if we're out during the afternoon and then wakes up complete grouch!!!!

February means Wee Trade! Once again I found some great deals and had a nice shopping day to myself. The kids are really excited about their new clothes, especially the bathing suits. Now all we need is some warm weather.

And last, but not least, we were able to watch our cousin Ava play basketball this month. Her team's conference tournament was held near our house, and we were able to make it to the championship game on Friday night. Thankfully Lydia cooperated and took a nap, which meant we could all go! Jacob made a special sign to cheer Ava on. Unfortunately her team lost in a close game that came down to the last few seconds, but we still had a great time and are so proud of Ava!

And a few other pictures from our February...
