March is always a fun month full of birthdays and the start of warmer spring weather!
Read Across America Week
Jacob loved participating in Read Across America Week at school. On Friday the kids dressed up like their favorite book characters, and Jacob wanted to be Jack from the Magic Tree House series. He doesn't read the books on his own yet, but we've been reading them to him for a couple of years now and he loves them. (I loved that he picked an easy costume!)
Ready for Spring
Now that its March, I am officially over winter and ready for spring! I made a spring wreath for our front door and flowers are starting to bloom! I think we're all ready for some warmer weather and more time outside.
Meme's Birthday
Happy 61st Birthday to Meme! We celebrated with dinner and cupcakes at our house. And I know its hard to tell, but Jacob and Lydia helped with the sprinkles! We finished the night by watching Lion King together. We love our Meme and had so much fun celebrating her special day!
St. Patrick's Day
Grandma's Funeral
On March 20th my Grandma passed away peacefully in her sleep. I traveled to Kentucky with my brothers to attend her services. As with my grandpa's passing the year before, it was a sad, but special time with my family. My grandma was truly one of the strongest women I have ever known. She was brave, confident, and her faith was her anchor. She wasn't scared to speak her mind or take charge of situations. Her family was everything to her and she had a way of making us feel so special and so loved. I will miss her so much, but I am thankful for her life and for the many memories I have with her.
Bear Wallow
After I returned from Kentucky we decided to have a family day hiking Bear Wallow Mountain. I'd spent the past 48 hours traveling and feeling sad, so it was really nice to have a day outside with my favorite people. It was fairly successful considering we only had to carry Lydia for the last mile or so!
Lydia's Hair
Lydia is really into Rapunzel right now and has been requesting some elaborate hair styles. I've been doing the best I can, but that's not saying much. Thankfully she's pretty easy to please!
Garden
Our early spring garden is growing! We planted carrots, peas, spinach, kale, and broccoli. Scott also dug a new bed for me to plant an herb garden!
Aunt Sarah and Mama Dot Visit
We were so excited to have a visit from Mama Dot, Aunt Sarah, and Audrey at the end of March. Thomas and his family came up for the weekend and we enjoyed a fun time together! Violet is possibly the cutest thing ever! Its so sweet to see the big kids so in love with her!
