The birthday boy was so excited to wake up to streamers on his door, presents on his placemat, and cinnamon cake in the oven!
Jacob was really excited that his birthday fell on a school day. Lydia and I brought in mini-cupcakes, goldfish, and juice, as requested by the birthday boy. He was also very adamant about making goodie bags to hand out to his friends. I think that might have been his favorite part of his day!
Jacob chose Mexican for dinner, which Meme and Daddy joined us for. Then we went back to Meme's house to open presents and have (more) cake! I think we set a record for sugar intake that day!
After celebrating at Meme's we went to the Kindergarten Open House at Fletcher Elementary. We were able to meet all the kindergarten teachers and check out the fun classrooms. Jacob already knew the way, because his class took a field trip there earlier in the month. He was so proud showing us around.
Saturday morning was the big day for Jacob's party. This year he chose a camping party, which was really fun (and easy) to decorate for, considering all of Daddy's camping gear! We made trail mix as the favor, and Jacob chose some compass rings to go with them.
I had so much fun making Jacob's camping themed cake! I'm no cake decorator, but this one was pretty forgiving, thankfully. He loved it! The bear paw cookies were also a big hit!
It was so special to have so many friends and family join in the celebration. Jacob is one very loved little boy!
After a fun day celebrating with family and friends, Jacob and Daddy topped it off with a camp-out in the yard. Jacob was so excited to use the new sleeping bag Uncle Andrew gave him! It was the perfect ending to a pretty perfect birthday celebration!
