Spring Break 2018

Jacob has declared this year's Spring Break as the best one ever! Considering this is his first real Spring Break, I'd say that's an accurate statement!

We headed to Morganton on Monday morning to meet up with the Houston's for playtime at the park. We also went on a little adventure walk on the Greenway before eating lunch at Chick-fil-la. Its so fun to watch the kids playing and having fun together. Megan and I rarely get to see each other, so we soak up any opportunity we get!

On Wednesday we got together with the Gentilcores at their home for some playtime. Jacob and Ceci are at different schools this year, so they've missed playing together. We're really looking forward to lots of time together this summer.

We headed out of town on Wednesday afternoon. We met Aunt Sarah, Caroline, and Audrey for a fun few days together in Pigeon Forge. We went to Dollywood on Thursday, along with pretty much everyone else in the world! We were shocked at how extremely crowded it was - way, way, way worse than any time I've ever gone in the summer. We made the best of it and still had a great day, but I don't think we'll be going back on Spring Break week again!

The kids has so much fun on the rides! They were so worn out by afternoon that both fell asleep in the stroller. Jacob was 9 months old the last time he fell asleep in public. It never happens. I was actually a little concerned he might be sick, but nope, just exhausted.

We ended the day with a pizza party at our hotel.

Everyone slept well that night, and I realized that Lydia has officially outgrown her pack-n-play!

We spent the next day at the Aquarium in Gatlinburg. Jacob absolutely loved it! Lydia was pretty cranky from missing out on some sleep over the course of the trip, but she hung in there and had a fun time, too.

I'd say the sting rays were the highlight of the visit. We sat and watched them for at least 30 minutes. Jacob named his favorite one Squeaky.

After lunch and ice cream in Gatlinburg, we headed back to the hotel for a little swimming before calling it a day.

It was sad to say good-bye on Saturday morning. We can't wait to see Audrey and Company again soon!

After returning from our trip, Scott and I attended my friend Rachael's wedding. Rachael is a good friend of mine who I used to teach with at Cane Creek Middle. It was a beautiful ceremony and fun reception. It was great to see old friends and have a night out together without kids.
